Product Specifications
Allahabad Safeda ( Psidium guajava ) is a popular and commercially important guava variety developed in Allahabad, Uttar Pradesh. It is a medium-sized, evergreen fruit tree belonging to the Myrtaceae family, growing up to 4–6 meters in height with an upright, spreading canopy. The tree bears round to slightly oval fruits with smooth, thin, pale yellowish-green skin and soft, white, juicy flesh. The fruits are sweet with mild acidity and have few soft seeds, making them ideal for fresh consumption and processing. Each fruit typically weighs between 180–250 grams and contains a Total Soluble Solids (TSS) content of around 10–12° Brix. This variety performs best in tropical to subtropical climates, thriving in deep, well-drained loamy or sandy loam soils with a pH range of 6.0 to 7.5. Allahabad Safeda guava trees start fruiting within 2–3 years of planting, with peak harvesting seasons in the monsoon (August–September) and winter (November–January). The plant is propagated mainly through air layering, grafting, or budding and is spaced at 5m × 5m for optimal orchard management. Under proper care, a mature tree can yield 80–100 kg of fruit annually. The variety is moderately tolerant to common guava pests and diseases and responds well to integrated nutrient and pest management. Due to its excellent taste, appearance, and shelf life, it is widely cultivated for both domestic and export markets.
