Product Specifications
Teak ( Tectona grandis ) is a highly valued deciduous hardwood tree native to India, Myanmar, and Southeast Asia, widely cultivated for its durable and premium-quality timber. Belonging to the Lamiaceae family, teak can grow up to 30ā40 meters in height with a straight, cylindrical bole and spreading crown. It has large, rough-textured leaves up to 60 cm long, and the tree sheds its foliage during the dry season. The small white flowers appear in terminal panicles during the monsoon, and the round, hairy fruit contains 1ā4 seeds. Teak thrives in warm tropical climates with 1200ā2500 mm of annual rainfall and temperatures between 13°C and 45°C. It prefers deep, well-drained loamy or alluvial soils with a pH of 6.5ā7.5. The tree is light-demanding, moderately drought-tolerant, but sensitive to frost and waterlogging. It is propagated by seeds or clonal methods for commercial plantations. Typically planted at 3m Ć 3m or 4m Ć 4m spacing, it is harvested after 15ā30 years depending on the rotation plan. Teak wood is renowned for its golden-brown grains, resistance to termites and weather, and is widely used in furniture, flooring, and marine construction. Its high commercial value makes teak an ideal long-term investment for agroforestry and timber-based businesses.
