Product Specifications
Plumeria alba , commonly known as White Champa or White Frangipani, is a small to medium-sized deciduous tree belonging to the family Apocynaceae. Native to tropical America but widely cultivated across India, it typically grows to a height of 6ā8 meters with a spread of 3ā5 meters. The plant features thick, succulent branches with grayish bark that exudes a milky latex when cut. Leaves are oblanceolate, glossy green, and arranged alternately, forming clusters at the tips of branches. The tree produces highly fragrant, white flowers with a yellow center, arranged in terminal clusters. Each flower measures 5ā7 cm in diameter and blooms from spring to late autumn (March to November in Indian conditions). Fruits are rarely seen and appear as elongated follicles containing winged seeds. White Champa thrives in full sunlight and prefers well-drained sandy loam soils with a neutral to slightly acidic pH (6.0ā7.5). It requires moderate watering and is sensitive to waterlogging but highly drought-tolerant once established. The plant is generally pest-resistant but may occasionally face infestations of scale insects or spider mites. Propagation is primarily done through stem cuttings, making it easy to multiply for nursery production. Due to its aesthetic appeal, fragrance, and minimal maintenance requirements, White Champa is widely used in landscaping, especially in gardens, temple premises, and avenue plantations. Its aromatic flowers are also used in religious offerings and garlands.
